current mood: amused

The commute from work seemed a lot shorter today, mostly, because Donna didn’t want to be going back to work. She’d had an amazing two week break for Christmas and New Year and the thought of going back to work only meant that she had nothing else to do but plan her wedding which worried her a little.

The elevator doors opened, she walked across the bustling floor of desks and people milling around, phones ringing and people talking. Everyone seemed much brighter and happier after the holiday break, and had lots to talk about which Donna looked forward to. Placing her handbag down on her desk, she lifted the memos and mail that had arrived on her desk and began filtering through them.

"Oh my god!" came Heather’s shrill voice from the desk next to her "your a redhead again!" looking down at Donna's hand she noticed the engagement ring "look at that rock!" she stormed around the desk and almost ripped Donna’s arm out of its socket to look at her engagement ring. Suddenly all the girls on the floor began to swarm around her, this was not what she needed at 9am in the morning.

"Is it silver?" Heather asked not taking her eyes from the ring "No white gold," Donna smiled. "It’s a real diamond. God Donna, your spoiled," Heather frowned the jealousy evident on her face. "Thanks," was all Donna could add, she didn’t want to go on and on about all the pretty things Eric bought her for Christmas as well as her engagement ring, so she decided to keep quiet.

"So, how were all of your Christmases?" Donna looked at the girls. "Mine was okay, Max’s mother was bugging me for a week, I mean it she’s one of the most evil women I’ve ever met in my life!" Jackie sighed. "I had an excellent Christmas, I got lucky three times in the one night," Alana grinned to herself, her love life was basically meeting random and exciting men, having sex with them for a few weeks or months then chucking them out like old shoes. "I had a really amazing Christmas, you should have seen Amy’s little face," Miranda had just given birth to a little girl in May and this was her first Christmas, she’d been excited about it all year and Donna loved hearing about it although it made her broody as hell. "Awww," Donna smiled "that sounds so cute!"

Noticing the boss coming in and walking into his office Donna thought it best to at least look as if she were doing some work. It was great because Heather sat at the desk to Donna’s left and Alana sat at the desk to Donna’s right. Miranda and Jackie sat directly in front of them so they were always having conversations and looking at magazines rather than doing any actual work. Finally getting logged into the system and hanging up her jacket she looked at Alana, as Heather, Jackie and Miranda looked at Alana for gossip.

"So, three guys huh?" she grinned cheekily.

Dan suit pissed off

First day back at the daily and already Daniel was pissed off. Lindsay kept following him around the building until he basically told her he wasn't interested, that she was just a sympathy fuck and to go to hell.

Dressed in a smart black suit, with an open collard black shirt he strode across to his office, slamming his briefcase down on the desk and logging into the system. He glanced out the glass windows at all of those that were beneath him. It felt so good now that he was the manager of the sports section of the news paper. It meant he could basically sit on his ass and do nothing all day while people ran around left right and center for him. Ah, life was sweet.

Deciding to look for a certain little blonde he strode out and walked across to her desk. As he got nearer he noticed she was no longer blonde, but a sexy red head. "Hmmm" he thought to himself with a crooked grin. Donna didn't notice him, as she was too busy gossiping with those around her, so he cleared his throat.

"Happy New year," he grinned "where's my New Years kiss?"

Donna's muscles tensed as Daniel's voice sounded in her ears. She turned around to see him standing there, she couldn't believe he was here. Maybe it was just a fleeting visit, she hoped.

"New Year kiss?" Donna spat "go to hell!"

Dan suit pissed off

Daniel was expecting that reaction from her, it was such a turn on when she got pissed with him. Her features tensed and her eyebrows created a sexy dark shadow around those stunning blue eyes.

"Donna, c'mon it's a new year, there's no need to be nasty. I was simply wishing you happy new year," Daniel frowned with a pathetic whimpering voice.

Me - Pissed off

Donna couldn't believe this was happening, after all the excitement and happiness she'd had he had to come back and wreck it all.

"It was a happy new year without you," Donna raised her eyebrows unamused with his pathetic attempt to befriend her.

"Owch, that hurts." Daniel had to bite his tongue and refrain from balling her out, he was so pissed when she ditched him and listened into his conversation. That had never happened to him before, and he wasn't the best person to make a fool of, especially not by a woman.

But he wasn't here to make small talk, or be friends with her, he was back for revenge. He was out to make her life a living hell, at work. He'd heard she was engaged, he glanced down at her left hand and noticed the engagement ring, so the gossip was right, for once. That infuriated him more than he first thought it would. She'd gone off and gotten engaged to some ass hole as if nothing had ever happened where as he was living with the embarrassment of the whole office seeing her throw his engagement ring back in his face.

Me - Sad

"Good," Donna got to her feet and looked him straight in the eye "Look, I dunno why your back here and to be honest I don't really care either. But don't think you can just stroll back in here and make out that we're friends."

What a way to come back to work after such a nice holiday, Donna thought to herself. She knew Daniel wouldn't just move to the other office and let things go. Donna knew she'd hurt him, but not in a broken heart sort of way, more in an embarrassment way. Daniel did not like being embarrassed, and there was no way in hell he'd let Donna get away with doing it. He was here for revenge, that much she knew, but what his plans were she didn't know.

"Oh trust me," he gritted his teeth "I'm not here to be friends."

Daniel could feel his blood boiling with anger at her attitude toward him. He needed to get away from her, before he pinned her to a wall by the throat. Spinning on his heel he walked off to his office and closed the door quickly, letting his whole body weight fall against it.

Me - Normal

Donna shook her head in bewilderment. It was obvious he was pissed off with her, and even more obvious that he was here to make a big song and dance about what happened in May. She tried not to let it worry her too much, what could she do anyway? He hadn't done anything ... yet. But when he did, she would be ready, Daniel Miller was the slimiest men she'd ever met, but she knew how to deal with guys like that. It was just a matter of waiting until he made the first move. The ball was in his court now.
