current mood: amused
The commute from work seemed a lot shorter today, mostly, because Donna didn’t want to be going back to work. She’d had an amazing two week break for Christmas and New Year and the thought of going back to work only meant that she had nothing else to do but plan her wedding which worried her a little.
The elevator doors opened, she walked across the bustling floor of desks and people milling around, phones ringing and people talking. Everyone seemed much brighter and happier after the holiday break, and had lots to talk about which Donna looked forward to. Placing her handbag down on her desk, she lifted the memos and mail that had arrived on her desk and began filtering through them.
"Oh my god!" came Heather’s shrill voice from the desk next to her "your a redhead again!" looking down at Donna's hand she noticed the engagement ring "look at that rock!" she stormed around the desk and almost ripped Donna’s arm out of its socket to look at her engagement ring. Suddenly all the girls on the floor began to swarm around her, this was not what she needed at 9am in the morning.
"Is it silver?" Heather asked not taking her eyes from the ring "No white gold," Donna smiled. "It’s a real diamond. God Donna, your spoiled," Heather frowned the jealousy evident on her face. "Thanks," was all Donna could add, she didn’t want to go on and on about all the pretty things Eric bought her for Christmas as well as her engagement ring, so she decided to keep quiet.
"So, how were all of your Christmases?" Donna looked at the girls. "Mine was okay, Max’s mother was bugging me for a week, I mean it she’s one of the most evil women I’ve ever met in my life!" Jackie sighed. "I had an excellent Christmas, I got lucky three times in the one night," Alana grinned to herself, her love life was basically meeting random and exciting men, having sex with them for a few weeks or months then chucking them out like old shoes. "I had a really amazing Christmas, you should have seen Amy’s little face," Miranda had just given birth to a little girl in May and this was her first Christmas, she’d been excited about it all year and Donna loved hearing about it although it made her broody as hell. "Awww," Donna smiled "that sounds so cute!"
Noticing the boss coming in and walking into his office Donna thought it best to at least look as if she were doing some work. It was great because Heather sat at the desk to Donna’s left and Alana sat at the desk to Donna’s right. Miranda and Jackie sat directly in front of them so they were always having conversations and looking at magazines rather than doing any actual work. Finally getting logged into the system and hanging up her jacket she looked at Alana, as Heather, Jackie and Miranda looked at Alana for gossip.
"So, three guys huh?" she grinned cheekily.

First day back at the daily and already Daniel was pissed off. Lindsay kept following him around the building until he basically told her he wasn't interested, that she was just a sympathy fuck and to go to hell.
Dressed in a smart black suit, with an open collard black shirt he strode across to his office, slamming his briefcase down on the desk and logging into the system. He glanced out the glass windows at all of those that were beneath him. It felt so good now that he was the manager of the sports section of the news paper. It meant he could basically sit on his ass and do nothing all day while people ran around left right and center for him. Ah, life was sweet.
Deciding to look for a certain little blonde he strode out and walked across to her desk. As he got nearer he noticed she was no longer blonde, but a sexy red head. "Hmmm" he thought to himself with a crooked grin. Donna didn't notice him, as she was too busy gossiping with those around her, so he cleared his throat.
"Happy New year," he grinned "where's my New Years kiss?"
